Death Star

Ask for a death start quilt from Star Wars and that is what you will receive. Found a great pattern of the death start on Pinterest.  The fabric practically jumped into my cart at Joann's.  I used a paper pattern to trace the fabric and wonder under to stick it to the fabric.  I sew each piece on with my machine.

No death star could be complete without a laser beam destroying planet Alderon. Or is it Calderon. I am not sure but the young man who directed me did.  He chose the color of the laser beam and the planet.  Thank goodness for FaceTime.

Here is the happy recipient who I know will get many hours of enjoyment out of this quilt.

Star Wars Craft Book - Oh My!!

Did you know about this book?  I can't believe I did not know about this book.  The Start Wars Craft Book was made for me and my kids.  I checked the publication date and it only came out March of last year so at least it wasn't out during our Star Wars phase.  I can't wait to check this book out.  Thank goodness my local library has it.  Update on some WIP's:  The butterfly quilt is coming along great.  The right wing is done and I have started on the left. If you plan to try this I suggest you really read all the comments because they discuss how to enlarge the pattern which was very helpful.  I will add some photos of the butterfly soon.  I have also continued working on the men's shirt quilt. I have been using my Accuquilt Go to cut out the 6 inch squares.  I can cut 6 perfect 6 inch squares at a time.  I am trying to cut one shirt a night.  I am amazed every time I see this machine in action.  And Z got a kick out of it too.  He sat with me while I cut one of the shirts delighting each time we lifted up the cutting board and looked at how perfect the cut squares looked.

Star Wars Cookies

The boys got a great birthday gift from their best friend. Star Wars Cookie cutters from William Sonoma. These are the best cookie cutters I have ever seen. They really make the shape come out. We took a break from the tea party baking to make these fun cookies.

Ours didn't come out excatly like the ones on the box. But the boys didn't seem to mind.

When I told D today that I counld't wait to get back to sewing he said "No, I love baking with you." Ahh, that melted my heart.

New Projects

Thanksgiving weekend was a total cricut crafting event. I spent my entire four days off doing cricut projects. It was so much fun. Two of the days I had friends over to craft. I made Star Wars bookmarks for the kids. I stenciled glass jars for hours. I made a demo of a monogram I am working on for the fireplace. I definitely filled up on cricuting. We did some furniture rearrangement so now my sewing machine is in the guest room aka craft room aka sewing room. I finally have my own room. I got a new chair and am going to decorate the room. I plan to get a project board to put above my sewing table and I want to install a new shelving unit in the closet. It is so much fun to have my own space. A space I can shut others out of when need be.

I ordered some iron on vinyl from Leslie at A place to be happy! I wanted to try it out before I invested too much in vinyl. The boys love their new Star Wars T-shirts and it was so easy to make. I can't wait to make something for myself.

I decided my next quilt project will be for me. I have two more sets of charms packs that I had earmarked for myself. I finally found a project at Moda Bake Shop that I decided to make. It is called a Stacked Coins Baby Quilt. I thought the cutting would be hard but I finished it in no time and my hands don't hurt. I think the Yoga I have started doing is really helping. Tonight I hope to begin the sewing. Then I have to find a project to make for the Twins Mother's Day Brunch. I plan to donate my first quilt to this event for the raffle. I might also donate the weekend tote I made. I am still deciding. It might make someone a cute diaper bag.
